Keunikan Kitab Yunus Dan Metode Penafsirannya

Kitab Yunus merupakan suatu kitab yang unik, karena genre dan tokoh utamanya. Walaupun kitab ini termasuk 12 kitab nabi-nabi kecil, namun kitab ini lebih mempunyai karakteristik genre narasi daripada kitab nabi. Ada ahli menempatkan kitab ini dalam kategori genre kitab nabi, namun ada juga yang menempatkannya dalam kategori genre narasi. Penulis berpendapat bahwa kitab Yunus ini berbentuk narasi, sehingga untuk menafsirkannya perlu digunakan metode penafsiran narasi. Hal unik lainnya yaitu Yunus sebagai karakter utama kitab ini. Banyak ahli mengevaluasi secara negatif sikap dan tindakan Yunus dengan sebutan nabi yang ogah-ogahan, penganut nasionalisme sempit, dsb. Namun penulis berpendapat bahwa evaluasi semacam ini tidaklah tepat, karena narator tidak pernah mengisahkan bahwa Allah menilai Yunus sebagai nabi yang sesat dan tidak taat dalam sepanjang kitab Yunus. Penulis berpendapat bahwa narator ingin menghadirkan Yunus sebagai tokoh yang unik. Tokoh yang jujur dan berani mengungkapkan pergumulan rohani seorang nabi dalam menerima dan melakukan penugasan Allah.
